The Audio Described Films of George Méliès

Silent film classics described for the first time

Spring 2023

Students enrolled in Matt Lauterbach's Spring 2023 Accessible Cinema course at DePaul University described the films of French illusionist Georges Méliès.

Collectively, students described A Trip to the Moon, The Kingdom of Fairies, and several shorts like The Astronomer's Dream, Gulliver's Travels Among the Lilliputians and Giants, and The Inventor Crazybrains and His Wonderful Airship.

A public screening took place virtually on June 7, and the students received valuable feedback from Robert Kingett and Cheryl Green of Social Audio Description Collective.
